This tradition dates back to the Ascension Day weekend, when Friday was a public holiday in Monaco and locals preferred a quieter day. Although the race is no longer tied to this holiday period, the schedule remained unchanged for many years out of respect for tradition and the Monaco Royal Family. In recent seasons, however, the event has aligned with the modern Formula 1 format, with practice sessions now beginning on the Friday like the rest of the calendar.

The front terrace provides an exceptional vantage point over Massenet, the entrance to Casino Square, and the exit as the cars accelerate away. On the second terrace, guests can watch the cars exit Casino Square, pass beneath the bridge, and head toward the famous Mirabeau corner—offering a completely different but equally thrilling perspective.
